Pierre Pierce
Hawkeye (2002-2005)
Cholet Basket
Drafted: Undrafted
Collegiate Awards: 3rd Team All-Big Ten as Sophomore
Pierce played with the Hawkeyes during three seasons, but unfortunately his time at Iowa will not be remembered for his basketball skills. Pierce’s off-the-court troubles eventually cost him his chance to play and had a major impact on the public opinion of Head Coach Steve Alford. After Pierce left the program, he spent time in prison and it appeared that basketball career would come to an end. However, Pierce was eventually permitted to travel and took his skill set overseas to play in France with Hyeres-Toulon Var Basket. He started for them in the 2008-09 season and remained in their starting five for the 2009-10 season. Pierce averaged 13.6 points per game as well as 4.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists. He signed with another French team in the offseason, Aris Thessaloniki. He was averaging 8.8 points per game & 2.3 rebounds per game to go along with 2.7 assists & 0.8 steals per game during the Greece season before he broke a bone in his foot in November. Pierce was also averaging 10.0 PPG, 4.3 RPG & 3.7 APG as well as 1.0 BPG & 1.0 SPG during the Eurocup. When he healed up, Pierce signed with a Ukranian team in February 2011, Azovmash Mariupol. He averaged 8.5 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game as well as 2.6 assists per game to go along with 1.0 steals per game. His team also played in the VTB United League where he contributed 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He left the team to sign with a Georgian team in the Super League, Sokhumi Tbilisi in late 2011, but he left shortly after joining the team. In December 2011, Pierce joined SK Dnipro Azot Dniprodzerzhynsk in the Ukraine Superleague, where he was a starter. He was averaging just over 12 points per game when he reached an agreement with the team to part ways in early February 2012. In December 2012, Pierce signed with his former French team, Hyeres-Toulon, on a 10-day contract. After that expired, he was signed by another French team, Cholet Basket.
