Chad Greenway

Hawkeye (2002-2005)

Minnesota Vikings

Drafted: Minnesota Vikings - 1st Round (17th)

Collegiate Awards: Co-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week vs. Arizona State as Sophomore, 2nd Team All-Big Ten as Sophomore, 1st Team All-Big Ten as Junior,  Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week vs. Northern Iowa as Senior, 1st Team All-Big Ten as Senior, AP 2nd Team All-American as Senior

While at Iowa, Chad Greenway teamed up with Abdul Hodge to form one of, if not the best linebacker duo ever to play for the Hawkeyes. He was a 2x First Team All-Big Ten and a 2nd Team All-American while at Iowa. He still sits at 5th overall in tackles for the Hawkeyes with 416. Once he left Iowa, Greenway was selected as the 17th pick overall in the 2006 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately he tore his ACL in his first ever preseason game and missed his entire rookie season. He came back strong the next year and Chad finished the 2008 season with an impressive 5.5 sacks while leading the team in tackles with 115. Greenway continued to flourish as the starting weak side linebacker and recorded 99 tackles, a forced fumble and 3 interceptions after the 2009 regular season came to an end. In two games during the playoffs, Greenway contributed 14 tackles and a sack in one Vikings victory and their loss to the Saints in the NFC Championship game. Greenway continued to be a nightmare for opposing offenses in 2010, picking up 144 tackles through all 16 games as well as one sack and a forced fumble. That put him in 4th place in the NFL in tackles. After the season ended, in order to keep Greenway off the free agent market, the Vikings put the Franchise tag on him and Greenway signed a one year deal to remain with the team. Just before the 2011 season got underway, Greenway signed a 5 year, $40 million deal to remain a Viking. He rewarded the Vikings by finishing 3rd in the NFL in tackles with 152. After the season ended, Greenway was selected to his 1st Pro Bowl after Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears pulled out because of injury. Greenway had another fantastic 2012 season, finishing 3rd overall in the NFL in tackles once again. He was again named to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement but was honored by being named by the AP to the All-Pro Second Team.
