Patriots sign OL Markus Zusevics to active roster

The path to the NFL hasn’t quite been by design for Offensive Lineman Markus Zusevics.
After finishing his Senior season at the University of Iowa with Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors, the next step was performing well at the NFL Combine. That’s where things took a turn for the worse.
Zusevics tore his pectoral muscle while performing during the bench press competition. He went from being an expected middle round Draft selection to not being selected at all. Despite that, the New England Patriots took a chance on him and signed him as an undrafted free agent. He was then placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list during the preseason.
He was activated before the Patriots Thanksgiving day game against the Jets as the team released WR Greg Salas.
