New England Patriots waive TE Brad Herman after injury

It is always considered a long shot for undrafted players to make an NFL roster. So, an injury to an undrafted player is usually the end of any shot they may have had. If the injury is bad enough, it may mean the end of any shot the player will ever have.
Brad Herman was signed by the Patriots after not being selected in the NFL Draft. The former Hawkeye Tight End was somewhat of a surprise when he was signed so the odds were stacked against him from the beginning. On Thursday, Herman ruptured his achilles tendon in practice and was carted off the field. He reportedly underwent surgery and was released by New England on Saturday.
Time will tell if Herman will ever get another chance to fulfill his NFL dream.
